Inspired by Mardi Gras traditions, the vibrant spirit of New Orleans, and their personal memories, every corner of this space tells a story. From the hand-painted walls to the whimsical doubloon floor, this bathroom became more than a functional space—it’s an experience.
The Design Inspiration: A New Orleans Celebration
Our clients shared a bold vision: a guest bathroom that would capture the vibrant, festive spirit of New Orleans. They imagined a space brimming with fun, personal details, and meaningful symbolism. Initially, we envisioned covering the walls with a map of New Orleans, complemented by flooring that would incorporate their cherished doubloon collection. As we delved deeper into the design process, the concept evolved into something even more exciting: patterned doubloon flooring that would bring texture and personality to the space, and a custom mural that perfectly embodied the passion, creativity, and New Orleans-inspired energy our clients radiate. This transformation went beyond a bathroom—it became an artistic tribute to their unique vision.
@margieandthemoon worked tirelessly to create hand-painted designs, turning the bathroom walls into a work of art that celebrates the culture of New Orleans. The Mardi Gras influence was reflected not only in the design but also in the choice of colors—bringing the spirit of the city into every detail.
The Magic of the Doubloon Floor
One of the most captivating features of this New Orleans bathroom renovation is the doubloon floor. Collected over many Mardi Gras celebrations with contributions from friends and neighbors, the floor is adorned with a flower pattern, offering a striking visual experience that delights and surprises every guest. This unforgettable element instantly transforms the bathroom into a living piece of art. Bringing this vision to life required a tremendous amount of effort and dedication. We meticulously created a sample, material guide, and step-by-step process for laying the floor, and our incredibly hands-on client spent several days in the intense heat, carefully positioning each doubloon with precision. This collaboration and the literal sweat equity involved not only ensured the vision was executed to perfection but also allowed us to keep costs manageable—proving that a truly unique design can come to life without breaking the bank.
